Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is a herbaceous or slightly sub-shrubby perennial plant with oval, whole, facing leaves, typical of the Mediterranean scrub. The mostly pinkish flowers form apical inflorescences with a compound corymb. In its spontaneous state, oregano is a mountain plant. It requires nice hot sunshine to fully develop its aroma.
Due to its digestive and aromatic properties, oregano occupies a prominent place in the kitchen, especially in the preparation of Mediterranean dishes. Its leaves, however, can also be used to dress salads and meats. It is a widely used in cooking to flavour virtually any food, vegetables, meats, salads, cheeses, fish, sauces and fillings, and it is especially essential on pizza. The product complies with current national and CE regulations.
